AG Miyares Stands for 2nd Amendment in his closing official acts

Warrenton, VA – On January 16th, Attorney General Jason Miyares issued an official opinion in response to a request from Delegate Webert in which he pointed out the blatant unconstitutionality of several anti-gun owner bills proposed by Virginia Democrats.

While the letter points to the multitude of ways that these bad bills aimed at closing small businesses, taxing and licensing away your constitutional rights, and ripping away your right to self defense are blatantly defiant of the Constitution, Delegate Webert felt the conclusion written by his friend and former seatmate summarized the issue with gun control quite perfectly:

As experience has demonstrated, even the most draconian government regulations will not prevent individuals bent on destruction from obtaining and using firearms for nefarious purposes, and an unarmed, law-abiding populace is helpless if law enforcement is slow to respond. Fortunately for Virginians, the United States Constitution and the Constitution of Virginia enshrine Virginians’ rights to defend themselves, their families, and their fellow citizens.
